Virtualware, technology partner in pioneering 5G initiative
Early this year, the Ministry of Economy and Business of Spain launched two 5G technology initiatives to explore the potential of this technology in key sectors of our society such as health, infrastructure or defence.
A temporary joint venture between Vodafone and Huawei Technologies was selected to lead one the initiatives which includes 32 use cases in different fields: agriculture, health, intelligent cities and territories, security and defence, society, digital economy and culture, digital transformation and tourism.
We are proud to announce our participation in this pioneering initiative as the technology partner for one of the use cases located in the Algeciras Port.
The project explores the deployment in mobile devices of the port’s digital twin for operations and security management including the support for assets management through mixed reality.
As the largest port in Spain and the 4th in Europe in terms of total cargo, the goal for the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras is to experiment with 5G capabilities and its ability to support innovative applications in the fields of port protection, operations and infrastructures.
