Virtualware Contributes to NATO’s Vision for Integrated Multi-Domain Operations Training at the NMSG Annual Symposium
Bilbao, November 11, 2025 – On the 23rd of October in Warsaw, Poland, Virtualware (EPA: ALVIR), a pioneer in 3D-driven enterprise software, took part in the NATO Modelling and Simulation Group (NMSG) Annual Symposium, titled “Force Readiness for Multi-Domain Operations through Modelling and Simulation.”
Organized by the NATO Science and Technology Organization Collaboration Support Office, the event brought together international experts to explore challenges and opportunities in force readiness through modelling and simulation technologies.
At the symposium, Virtualware gave a presentation on the topic “The Value of a Unified XR Ecosystem in Multi-Domain Operations Training” where David Moreno, Chief Business Development Officer of the company, shared insights into the current state of Extended Reality (XR) in military training and its ability to create risk-free, true-to-life environments offering limitless opportunities to learn, practice, and perfect critical skills.
During the presentation, David also addressed the need for an integrated XR platform, explaining that current XR training systems remain fragmented, often developed independently by service branches, nations, or mission areas, leading to duplication, data silos, and operational inefficiencies. David highlighted Virtualware’s collaboration with the Spanish Ministry of Defense and how they are shaping the training processes modernization of the medical staff of the Military Health Corps through a central platform supporting their multi-user Virtual Reality simulations.
“By investing in an integrated XR ecosystem, the Alliance can streamline training operations, reduce costs, and improve readiness for complex, multi-domain conflict“
David Moreno, Chief Business Development Officer
As NATO advances its Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) framework, the need for cohesive, joint-force training has become more urgent than ever. In a significant step toward that goal, 13 NATO Allies — including Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom — agreed to initiate the development of a multinational simulated training capability. The Distributed Synthetic Training High Visibility Project (HVP) will leverage existing national simulated training capabilities to create a secure network of advanced and immersive virtual training for multinational purposes.
With more than two decades of expertise, Virtualware has become a strategic partner in the field of technological innovation applied to defense, providing pioneering simulation and training solutions that strengthen decision-making and the operational readiness of the Spanish Armed Forces and allied militaries.
Since 2020, Virtualware has collaborated with the Spanish Ministry of Defense, actively contributing to NATO working groups and maintaining a strong presence at global defense events and forums such as I/ITSEC, European Defence Innovation Days, and FEINDEF. The company also plays a pivotal role in NATO’s strategic initiatives, including TIDE Sprint, Toxic Trip, and the CA2X2 Forum.
The company’s headquarters are in Bilbao, Spain, with offices in Orlando, US, Toronto, Canada, and Skövde, Sweden.
