Virtualware returns to FEINDEF as a new member of the Spanish Defence and Security Industry Cluster
Virtualware will be present at FEINDEF 2025, Spain’s leading defence and security exhibition, reaffirming its commitment in this sector to advancing XR workforce training through VIROO, the XR enterprise platform.
As part of its continued growth and positioning in the defence sector, Virtualware has recently become a formal member of the Spanish Defence and Security Industry Cluster (CID). This strategic move reinforces the company’s role as a trusted technology partner and further aligns its XR expertise with national and European strategic priorities.
The company’s work marked a key milestone in 2020, when it was awarded a contract through the COINCIDENTE program to support the Spanish Ministry of Defence. The contract involved deploying VIROO to train medical units at the Spanish Military Health School (EMISAN) in Madrid, using complex CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) scenarios. It also included a large-scale, multi-user XR room that enabled highly realistic training for combat casualty and mass casualty situations.
A key feature of Virtualware’s presence at FEINDEF is this project developed with EMISAN, named SIMUR, to further advance XR-based medical training. It has earned significant recognition, including the e-nnova Health Award
The project also responds directly to the challenge of cohesive, joint-force training by delivering realistic, multi-user training environments through a central XR platform. VIROO enables risk-free, interoperable, and scalable training scenarios that prepare defence personnel to operate seamlessly across domains, while reducing cost and complexity.
Virtualware’s growing role in defence has been reinforced through active participation in international forums such as NATO’s CA2X2 Forum, I/ITSEC, IT²EC, and the European Defence Innovation Days, as well as involvement in NATO research groups focused on immersive training and medical effectiveness.
