LEADING THE WAY AS THE WORLD’S MOST INNOVATIVE VR COMPANY IN 2022: Summing up an amazing year.

“Our philosophy to bring the virtual world and the digital world at the confluence of innovation is inspiring the thriving VR industry, and we take pride that our work is bringing modern solutions to any forward-looking business”.

Unai Extremo Co-founder and CEO of Virtualware after the company was acknowledged as the world’s Innovative VR Company at the 2021 edition of the VR Awards.

WE DEFINED A CLEAR VISION ABOUT THE FUTURE OF ENTERPRISE VR

At a time when the notion of a mythical metaverse has captured the imagination of the public, companies, and investors, Virtualware is building on a clear vision and understanding of the future opportunities that exist in virtual reality solutions for the industry.  This vision is based on our experience and how we see the future. And the future, in our eyes, will be shaped by virtual reality (VR) and other immersive technologies.

Those of us who have been involved for decades in the VR industry are looking this media and semiotic debate from afar, without bothering ourselves with some Jungian dialectics and rather focusing on applying VR technologies to developing solutions that might improve the likelihoods of future generations and contribute to improving the planet.

For almost two decades, long before the term became popular, we have been developing immersive technologies that generate value, facilitate the creation of new solutions, spur growth and technological innovation. We have spent 20 years developing VR industrial solutions and plan to spend the next 20 years doing the same thing. We are certain that the opportunities inherent in this market are very real and not a utopian dream.

WE RELEASED VIROO 2.0 AND WERE AWARDED A KEY PATENT IN THE US

Virtualware’s flagship VIROO released a new version in May. The VRAAS platform presented an improved version in terms of connectivity, making it more versatile, so multiple users can connect to the same collaborative VR space from different devices and locations. The platform also included advanced streaming technology, a new feature that allows the image to be displayed wirelessly on each virtual reality headset. In this way, users immersed in VIROO VR rooms can enjoy greater freedom, without the need to use VR Backpacks. The new version incorporated VIROO Studio, a powerful toolset to create and publish multi-user and remote collaboration-ready VR solutions using the Unity Engine Editor.

Previous to the 2.0 version launch, the company was granted a new patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for its groundbreaking immersive positioning system.

WE EARNED THE ISO 27001 CERTIFICATION

Virtualware and its proprietary VR platform VIROO was awarded International Organization for Standardization ISO 27001 Certification, as part of a continuous effort to uphold the privacy and security of its customers and business partners worldwide.

The ISO 27001 accreditation builds on Virtualware’s attainment of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems standard in 2007. The ISO 9001:2015 certification sets the standard for a quality management system (QMS), achieved when an organization exhibits its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Both certificates are a recognition of the commitment from across the organization to establish ways of working that bring value to our customers and reflect a conscious decision by the company to formalize a culture that has always existed within the business.

WE REINFORCED VIROO PRESENCE IN LEADING INDUSTRY COMPANIES AND INSTITUTIONS

Virtualware incorporated new users to its VIROO VR platform throughout the year from all industry sectors: Ontario Power Generation, one of the largest, most diverse, low-cost clean power generators in North America; Gestamp, one of leading firms in the European automotive industry; Janssen, the Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson; Invest WindsorEssex, the lead economic development organization in the City of Windsor and County of Essex; or El Salvador University, the oldest and the most prominent university institution in El Salvador, serving as the national university of the country, to name a few.

The company also strengthened its presence as the world leader in virtual reality applied to nuclear energy, increasing its support to the multinational General Electric Hitachi Nuclear Energy in Ottawa, Atlanta, Florida, or Veracruz.

WE WERE PRESENT AT THE WORLD’S MOST INFLUENTIAL TECHNOLOGY EVENTS

During 2022, the Virtualware team showcased VIROO at some of the world’s most influential technology events, including I/ITSEC, the world’s most effective modeling, simulation, and training conference, where it was hosted by Microsoft Federal; VRARA Immerse Summit, hosting a panel with thought leaders from Unity, HTC Vive and Magic Leap; AWE USA, a major conference and exhibition featuring the leading XR companies and speakers; NATO Modelling & Simulation Group (NMSG) Annual Symposium, presenting how the Spanish Military Health School is using VR to revolutionize medical training; or the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP), to mention some.

WE CONTINUED TO WIN GLOBAL AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

As a result of its work, Virtualware and VIROO have won several global awards during the year, most recently a coveted Gold award for excellence in the “Best Advance in Augmented and Virtual Reality” category at the 2022 Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Technology Awards. Brandon Hall Group operates the oldest and largest awards programme in Human Capital Management; Unity Government and Aerospace creator award for the best medical training application in Europe; and E-nnova Health Award in the Digital Transformation category for the medical VR training project with the Spanish Military Health School.

The company leadership team was also recognized during the year, with Unai Extremo, Co-founder and CEO of Virtualware, being accepted into Forbes Technology Council, an Invitation-Only Community for World-Class CIOs, CTOs, and Technology Executives; and David Moreno, CMO of Virtualware, nominated for the Rising Star Award at this year’s CMO Awards, the first and only CMO awards program designed and driven by an elite group of peers celebrating the marketing industry’s best and brightest leaders.
