Virtualware taps into the virtual universe to solve real problems

Virtualware bypasses the hype of the metaverseto create innovative virtual reality solutions for industry that create true value

At a time when the notion of a mythical metaverse has captured the imagination of the public, companies, and investors, Virtualware is building on a clear vision and understanding of the future opportunities that exist in virtual reality solutions for the industry.

This vision is based on our experience and how we see the future. And the future, in our eyes, will be shaped by virtual reality (VR) and other immersive technologies.  Not by chance, we are one of the oldest VR companies in operation in Europe, since my partner Sergio and I launched the corporation in 2004 – and immersive technologies were more a new Foundation for the future than anything else (forgive my Assimoveness).

Since last year, the market at large has begun to recognize the benefits of VR and identify myriad potential use cases, from education to scientific advancements, risk management and new technology development, immersive technologies will power the next phase of innovation.

But, while many, many companies are jumping on the ‘metaverse’ bandwagon – as they jumped into many hypes before – very few are contributing to the real development of our industry. Rather, most are simply using the word as a marketing or profile-raising tool, without caring if next year the world will simple be substituted by another, more fancy one.

T

hose of us who have been involved for decades in the VR industry are looking this media and semiotic debate from afar, without bothering ourselves with some Jungian dialectics and rather focusing on applying VR technologies to developing solutions that might improve the likelihoods of future generations and contribute to improving the planet.  In the past few years, the 40-strong team Virtualware has focused in creating simulators to help nuclear plants operators hand-in-hand with clients such as GEH Hitachi, has been working on developing training solutions for electric workers that risk their lives everyday for the benefit of everyone, and is working on medical, scientific and complex applications.  We simply do not have time for the ‘metaverse’ fuzz, as we are creating real VR technologies, like many of our esteemed peers around the world.

Talk of the metaverse and discussions about its future are often carried out in the realm of the metaphysical, with companies tapping the hype around the word as opposed to helping drive the technological innovation that will facilitate the emergence of the metaverse itself.

In fact, since the word made its way into the public consciousness, there has not been a single true technological innovation in the space. Because innovations take time, and you cannot create an industry in four months.
Perhaps even more confounding, almost none of the people that have written about, discussed, or pontificated about immersive technologies and the possibilities attached to them have ever put on a VR headset, any VR headset (and they have been around for long).

True innovation

Virtualware is a different type of company. For almost two decades, long before the term became popular, we have been developing immersive technologies that generate value, facilitate the creation of new solutions, spur growth and technological innovation. We have spent 20 years developing VR industrial solutions and plan to spend the next 20 years doing the same thing. We work with some of the world’s largest and most innovative companies and governments in dozens of sectors.

We are certain that the opportunities inherent in this market are very real and not a utopian dream. We are clear in our vision and our objectives.  The key to both is to continue creating solutions that add value to our users, our partners, clients, and all our stakeholders. As we pursue our vision, we will continue to push deeper into the nexus of new and emerging technologies. It is in this nexus that the most advanced technologies come together: virtual reality (VR), blockchain, the virtual economy and all the other technologies that are emerging, evolving, and coalescing into the metaverse.

Over the last few years, we have not only seen but ridden the wave of technological progress that has changed the world. We are passionate about immersive technologies and want to apply them to all manner of industrial use cases to solve problems and generate value.

We have focused our efforts on developing enabling technologies. By zeroing in on the business-to-business space, we have linked up with the metaverse in a unique, practical, and innovative way.

This level of innovation is important to the development of the metaverse because, much like the real universe, the metaverse will not be just one thing. It will be many different things that will come together under one umbrella.
There will come a time when talk of the metaverse will fade and the focus will, instead, shift to the many ways to express the virtual universe. At Virtualware, we plan to be a key shaper of the virtual universe.

“We are a company that creates solid VR solutions for actual problems within the industry realm. We tap into the virtual universe to solve problems in the real one and plan to continue working with our clients, staff, partners, and stakeholders in relentless pursuit of this future.”
